Here
is this week's assignment from Nancy's
blog:
Sombra wrote, "I think it would be interesting to find out if some of the other ladies have sunk their teeth into something new in the last year or so, what are they enthralled with, what has claimed the fires of their passion." You can post pictures or as many things as you'd love to start doing for YOURself. I stand corrected but I took it from Sombra's email that she meant OUR OWN passion and not something your children or husband would like you to learn. Make sure you include a favorite scripture.
Go here if you would like to participate.
For a long time I have wanted to learn how to make my own web graphics. I have dabbled in that for the last few months, although I still have a lot to learn. I made my header, but I didn't use my own graphics for it.
I have also always wanted to cook and make household items from scratch. Since I quit doing medical transcription at the end of last year, I have had time to work on this. I've been making all of our bread, granola, yogurt and buttermilk; as well as our household cleaners and laundry soap. I would like to conquer tortilla-making - they take forever for me to make. I've never used a lot of convenience foods, but just these few changes have saved us a ton of money in groceries!
My husband and I have also been trying to learn Spanish with another couple for several months, and I would really like to learn New Testament Greek. I have some resources, but I haven't fit that into my schedule yet.
"Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass." Psalm 37:3-7

You are very talented. I told my husband the other day that with the rising price of groceries that I would be doing a whole lot more home baking, but I'm not sure I would be brave enough to try some of the things you are making. Where do you find the time?
I love your header. I especially love your use of the Victorian pictures throughout your blog. Wherever do you find them? I love to play with graphics too, but I have to start with something and build and alter them. Do you draw your own designs that you may use one day? How great that would be. Love your passage. Very inspiring choice.
Blessings,
Ginny

I love to bake as well and have the smell of fresh bread throughout the house. Mmmm...I just wish I could find the time and discipline to do it more often. Maybe this weekend!

These are all great! I finally figured out how to design my blog, and the photo at the top is from my garden, but I have no idea how you did your header. Great work! Thanks for the prayers!
Blessings,
Laurie

My oldest son, now that he's got a pretty strong grasp on Hebrew is starting with the Greek language. He's mastered the Alphabet and sounding out words, now he just needs to build fluidity and then build up his vocabulary and Grammar. His friend says the Greek Grammar is VERY hard to understand.. Hebrew Grammar is easier. Hebrew Grammar is very similar to French and Spanish, so if you've started that Spanish, you'll quickly pick up how the Hebrew works - conjugating verbs!!

Those are great interests. You did a wonderful job on your header. Baking from scratch is a fun hobby and does save lots of money. Wow! Learning about ancient languages is lots of fun. I have been learning Latin with my kids this year and it is an interesting language.
I have done two posts about my herb garden on my blog. I was going to do one tomorrow, but I thought people might be getting tired of seeing it. : )
